Spoof: SNL does an hilarious parody song about the term “YOLO”

This video was actually brought to my attention in my Mass Communications class.

Andy Samberg of Saturday Night Live is known for his parody songs as a member of the group The Lonely Island. Samberg and The Lonely Island strike again, this time they are assisted by Adam Levine and, one of my favorite artists, Kendrick Lamar.

The song takes the term “YOLO” (which stands for: you only live once) and suggests that the term means we should be overly-cautious to try to live as long as possible, when in reality people interpret the term as a validation to make every decision like it is their last and to take risks just for the sake of taking risks.

This video points fun at the ridiculous, juvenile and senseless decisions people make all based on this term which was developed in pop culture.
