Chicago fans are the most worrisome fans around. Especially when it comes to the Bulls. I try and preach to people that Michael Jordan did not put on a Chicago Bulls uniform and automatically win 6 championships. It took Jordan 7 years to win his first championship. This is Derrick Rose‘s 4th season and he has missed 21 games of this 66 game shortened season. If the Bulls do not win this year there is no reason for a Bulls fan to hang their head.
Last year the Bulls had the best record in the NBA, they had the league’s Most Valuable Player, and the Coach of the Year. This year the Bulls have been plagued with multiple injuries to key players and still have the best record in the NBA and they should have the Coach of the Year again. Last night the Bulls had some good news and some bad news; the good news was Richard Hamilton played a solid 20 minutes after missing 36 games, the bad news was they loss their first back-to-back games in 86 games.
After two lackluster performances against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets the Bulls still have the best record in the NBA at 42-13. Unlike some people I believe the regular season matters because if the Bulls hold on to the best record in the NBA they can force the Miami Heat to try and win on the road if they meet in the playoffs and if they meet the Thunder in the Finals they will remove the Thunder from their home court comfort zone.
Can the Bulls win the championship this year? ABSOLUTELY! The Bulls are one of the three best teams in the league but that is only if they can have Derrick Rose back at least at 85% healthy and Richard Hamilton at least 90% healthy. With two “glue guys” who never take a day off like Joakim Noah and Luol Deng and a post-up power forward who can make that 17 foot jump shot consistently in Carlos Boozer the Bulls have the most complete starting five in the NBA and easily the best bench in the NBA.
