Not-So-Saint-Like

After much speculation that the former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator; Gregg Williams was paying players for injuring opposing teams the NFL fine the Saints organization $500,000 and a second round draft pick from the 2012 draft and the 2013 draft. Along with the fines Saints head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for the entire 2012 season beginning on April 1st, 2012. Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis was suspended for the first 8 games of the 2012 season.  Former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams; now with the St. Louis Rams, has been suspended indefinitely.

Many analysts and former NFL players have been defending the Saints organization by bringing up the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick and “Spygate”.  In my opinion there is no comparison, yes they are both forms of cheating but only one of those circumstances involved a team deliberately hurting another team. I believe the NFL should treat Sean Payton the same way the MLB treated Pete Rose for gambling on games; ban him from the league.

      1. You can argue either way, but I believe it was because it involved injuring other players. You just can’t do that on purpose.
